I have read four of Anne Perry's World War I series and found them each good. At Some Disputed Barricade follows the pattern of the first three. It is interesting to follow the story of the Reavley family, see the current book's mystery solved and continue in the saga to discover the indentity of the Peachmaker. This book in particular gives one a feel for how awful the trenches and warfare were.

One Barricade Too Many
I have devoured every one of Anne Perry's books, but this left me a little depressed. There was too much graphic description, I thought, of war casualties and overly- morbid detail. Ms. Perry has a unique ability to pull you in completely to her story and because she is so talented at bringing her characters to life she needn't have spent so much time emphasizing stench, etc. I will continue to read her but couldn't truthfully recommend this one, unless you like a lot of gore to get you into the story.
