Harald (c. 1010-1066) was a brother to Stout, King of Norway, and he earned the nicname "Hardrada" which means 'hard ruler' or 'ruthless. ' It was he who decided he needed to attempt the conquest of England. [Of course, as with all history books, there have been new discoveries which would add to the Viking history, i.e., the location of a perfectly preserved entire Viking ship of the era, etc. However most of this book is still relevant. ]
