Elizabeth George Speare is a wonderful storyteller! Kit, raised in luxury on the sun-dazzled island of Barbados, is forced to move to Puritan New England to live with her aunt and uncle. hard to put down from start to finish
I have read this book to each of my six girls, I loved every time I read it. The author does a wonderful job of drawing you into the story.

Memorable
I first read this book when I was a young teen. I have read thousands of books since, being an avid reader. It remains one of the first books I can recall reading and some 40 years later the title stirs up the descriptive settings of the book and interesting characters. I recommend it to any lover of a good tale - including myself at this stage of my perhaps more demanding self.
