Two murder victims have been discovered in the boots of their cars. The first was would-be actor, Richard Dada; the second Dr Claire Argent, a psychiatrist at a maximum security hospital. Milo Sturgis tends to think there will be plenty of suspects amongst her clientele, but as his friend Alex Delaware remarks, none of his patients ever killed anyone and as they investigate the backgrounds of both victims it appears that Milo needs to look elsewhere, because neither of them are who they made themselves out to be. As they slowly unravel the strands of their lies another, truly monstrous, character emerges: a man who gains his pleasure not from mere mutilattion and murder but from making his victims watch their own forthcoming death on film. And somehow he has control over some of the Claire Argent's patients, apparently securely behind bars. In one of the most complex plots he has yet devised, Jonathan Kellerman has created a devastating mystery thriller.

Seller's Description:
Very Good. Book 9 cassette tapes in box. All near fine. Giftable. This is unabridged special library edition but is not ex-lib-this is a new unused box-set with reinforced cover marketed to libraries. Collectors edition. An excellent clean tight copy 13 1/2 hour reading time; read by Alexander Adams. Dr. Alex Delaware faces one of the most grisly ad baffling mysteries of his career: how can a nonfunctional psychotic locked up in a supposedly secure institution for homicidal madmen predict murders in the outside world?
I am a great fan of Jonathan Kellerman books but this was the first book of his that gave me goosebumps.
An atmospheric and gruesome thriller which made me leave the light on at night. The scenes inside the institution particularly put me on edge and I really felt connected to the characters. I really enjoy the interactions between Dr Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis in this series of books but have to say this was one of favourite books in the series so far.....I didn't put it down until it was finished.
