This is the first outing for Max Mingus, ex -cop and ex-con as he accepts an offer to find a wealthy family's missing child in the violent and poverty ridden island of Haiti. Visions of the slums, drug trade and violence will stay with you and you can feel the overtones of voodoo. This book is not for the faint of heart but if you like a riveting and intense read don't miss this one. No court trials and plea bargains for the bad guys in this one. Rest assured that you will be seeing Max again.

Interesting and alive
I don't travel, but am fascinated by other countries. This book, I found to be intense and an interesting and disturbing ride through Haiti. I felt like I was there, in the story, with the characters going through what they went through. The story twists and turns and you're not sure what it's about until probably half way through and it's horrifying to think it actually happens in the world. This young author has done a marvellous job of bringing you into Haiti and making you swirl. If you want to know the hard life and a bit of history of Haiti then read this. I'm not saying it's all true and correct but I do know Haiti has had it's share of hell and this is some of it. Enjoy or not.
