The most daring of the corsairs who raided the West Indies and Spanish Main, he led the English into the Pacific, and circumnavigated the world to bring home the "Golden Hind" laden with Spanish treasure. I'm not a Scholar. I just enjoy reading and learning all kinds of History. This book to me was well written i.e. enjoyable, and easy to read without being at such a level so as to insult the average adult reader's intelligence. The first chapter is a little dry because of the many details on Drakes early background. After that I became absorbed in the account.
I also appreciate the Author pointing out where various accounts of the same events differ, and which one seems more credible, and why. I highly recommend this book.
