"The librarian was so tall." Sophie had seen the bookmobile, but was just too intimidated to go in. The librarian, we can see from the picture, is a goose, and, well, tall.
Great illustrations, great text. Fun for reader and child alike.
Mathers gets the point across (great things can happen when we have the courage to step out of our comfort zone) without beating you over the head with it.
Only four stars? The happy ending is "Sophie gets a man." Little girls don't need too much of that message. As part of a well balanced reading diet, however, this charming little book is a winner.
