Jimmy was a small boy who loved all animals and birds and even bugs, except for the mean old goose Gus who scared the wits out of Jimmy whenever he could. Jimmy's mother told him one day that he'd have to face up to Gus sometime soon, because a boy of nearly six years old should be able to say ''Boo'' to a goose. All of Jimmy's friends help him practice saying ''Boo''--Rabbit, Horse, Mouse and Rooster. But when Gus flew at him again, even Jimmy was startled at what happened. Joseph Low (1911-2007) won Caldecott honors for his children's book Mice Twice (1980). His art was also featured on the cover of The New Yorker sixteen times between 1940 and 1980.
