I bought this book thinking that the author was proposing that the West Coast sets trends for the rest of the country, contrary to the belief that trends come from Europe/East Coast.
The book is actually about Labor movements, strikes, organizing. If you're a Socialist and into that subject you might like it. Writing style is a little scattered.
I quit after 100 pages when I saw where it was going.
