do you like satire?
I was surprised to find that this book is a satire. It spoofs the army special forces and the bureaucrats in Washinton D.C. To use Ludlums words in the book, "the D.C. pricky-s---s". The main character is retired general MacKenzie Hawkins, military legend, and twice winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor--turned out to military pasture against his will--called the "Hawk". He is out to get even with those that stripped him of his military life, and he plans to do so by using the fact that the indian tribe, by the name of Wopotami, may have been screwed out of their land in Omaha Nebraska, which happens to be the center of SAC. (Strategic Air Command) He plans to take the case to the supreme Court, and sue the government of the United States for the return of the land to the Wopotimi's, which,of course, is impossible because the government has spent billiions on developing the SAC base. The book is full of satire, devious twists in story, and even has a romance. The characters are all larger than life and very funny. It has a great epilogue which ties everything together. Enjoy.
