This work, in the guise of a popular novel uses literary techniques to cast a poweful spell on the reader. The story is deeply tragic and shocking, and the ending will strike the reader with an unexpected force. The author's prose is economical, almost sparse, yet all the more effective in it's economy. The book is less than 200 pages, yet reads like an epic. The theme of family loyalty is an ancient as the Greeks, and this work is a Greek tragedy played out on the contemporary stage.
