This 900 page advance algebra text is well written with detailed examples; it was written by nine teachers and includes topics such as: equations, graphs, linear relationships, matrices, parabolas, quadratic equations, functions, exponents, logarithms, trigonometry, statistics, and others. Most students would cover about 600 pages of this text in a year.
This challenging text was designed to help students develop skills in reading and problem solving. A graphing calculator would be useful for solving the problems with graphs; plotting graphs can be very time consuming. The teacher would find a device which displays graphs for the class would be very helpful.
Each lesson has about 20 problems. Twenty problems would take about an hour to do. The answers to the odd problems are in the back of the text. Since each lesson depends on the preceding lessons, it is important that the students knows how to do the problems and not just the answers. There is a chapter self test and a chapter review at the end of each chapter; the answers to these are also in the back of the text.
