Biography deserves accolades
It's a daunting task to write a readable biography. It's even more of a Herculean job to write one of someone behind-the-scenes in a desk job. But that's what Scott Berg has done in his bio of Max Perkins, the great literary editor. Highly readable (as all Berg's work is), serving up internal drama but not over-doing it, providing insights into Perkins' world and the great writers he shepherded, especially F. Scott Fitzgerald.
