This book is one of Agatha Christie's attempts at a futuristic fantasy. It
has one of the most intriguing opening sequences of any of her works. Although
its final development may fall short of expectations, I find it one of the most
interesting of her later works. She refers to many elements of 'modern' mid-
twentieth century life not seen her earlier works (of course) and draws on
some myths arising out of World War II.
