The first time I read this book, I was so astonished by the whole book and the ending that I went back to the beginning and read the book over again! Patrick White is not always easy to read, but I found this book very readable and certainly intriguing and different.
It is one of my favourite books and I have read it at least four times. I lent out my old copy once too many times and never got it back so now I will not lend anyone my new copy.
