Many Norwegian lepers settled in our North western States, but the disease has never Shown a tendency to spread there and is rapidly dying out. Leprosy in Louisiana appears to have been introduced either by Acadian immigration in 1758 or, as in the case of Tracadie, directly from northern France, where the disease has not yet.
