I bought this book for a good friend of mine. He absolutely loved and has read it at least twice. He says he would definitely recommend it to anybody who loves a good read.

Like His Songs
Admittedly, I am not a big fan of celebrity novels. In an environment where talented writers can struggle for decades before breaking into print, a celebrity can just dash something off and have it on the bookshelves by the end of the year. Thus it was with reluctance that I picked up this collection of short stories by singer/songwriter Steve Earle.
Predictably, I found much to fault. Mr. Earle?s command of language is weak, his dialogue is often clunky and the stories either go nowhere or end predictably.
And yet? As I read, I found myself starting to enjoy them. These are tales from the underbelly of the drug war and the seamy side of middle America?a place where politicians (and literary critics) never visit. The stories in this book reminds me of his songs?rough, gritty and full of honestly felt passion.
