This is a great book! Yes, it's a murder mystery, yes, it's a journey of discovery, yes, it has a touch of the occult, but mostly it's a remembrance of the ideals of the sixties before they became tarnished. George R. R. Martin can be very good when he's good, and this is one of his best. He does a skillful job of seamlessly weaving his fictitious rock band, the Nazgul, into the music and events of the times (though the book is set in the present). The main character is witty, benevolent, and doesn't take himself too seriously, so this isn't just a relating of his angst, it flows. Enough; if you remember the sixties, read the book!
