This books starts where "Dune Messiah" ends but keeps the feel and spirit of the original "Dune." I felt that "Dune Messiah" was lacking what the original "Dune" owned, and therefore I was a little reluctant to pick-up "Children of Dune." I can say I was pleasantly surprised by the read.
The strengths of the original "Dune" were it's fresh approach, inventiveness and it's jumping narrative. "Children of Dune" isn't as fresh but keeps the inventive approach and interesting narrative. That is why I give it 4 out 5 stars.
