In the vivid prose that is Michener's trademark, readers will find the real Spain as he experiences it. He reveals bullfights and warrior kings, painters and processions, cathedrals and olive orchards; he also shares the intimate, hidden Spain he has come to know to create a wild, beautiful land, the mystery called Iberia.

Seller's Description:
Good. No Jacket. Two volumes (complete). Please note: the reference number quoted above refers to BOTH books. The ISBN is for Volume I. Both are in benign, comfortable condition. The covers are worn, creased and scuffed. They are secure and sure. They are memorably, evocatively illustrated with Vavra's photographs. Volume One: Badajoz, Toledo, Cordoba, Las Marismas, Sevilla and Madrid. Although there is evidence of happy ownership throughout the pages are clean, clear, confident, certain, compelling. Volume 2 (ISBN: 0552987336): Salamanca, Pamplona, Barcelona, bull-fighting, Teruel and Santiago de Compostela. As with volume I this is a comfortable book. The pages are clean, clear, contented. fk.

Seller's Description:
Very Good. Two (cased) volumes. The wraps are a bit rubbed and worn (not torn); the spines are a little sunned and creased. Both books have a small name stamp but are otherwise clean and tightly bound. The case is somewhat worn and faded but intact.
I first read this books years ago, and enjoyed it thoroughly. At the time I believe it was the only non-fiction work Michener had written. It tells of his travels across Spain, in the early part of the 20th century, the people he encountered and the experiences that shaped his thinking. One of his best works.
