Although this book is a little dated and slow-moving, it arrived in my life at a good time. A friend's husband had just died, so this book gave me ideas of how to cope with loss, and what my friend was going through. It helped that both women lived in the Caribbean. I recall reading some of the My Friend books about 20 years ago, at the urging of another friend, who had read the whole series, and I was surprised to find most of Jane Duncan's books at my own library. They are not mysteries that whip along, but thoughtful books from an intelligent woman who had led a contemplative life in a quite different manner from my own.
