Meet the Arkadians--a young bean counter turned hero, a poet turned jackass, a girl of marvels, a king disguised as a peasant, and others who play across an epic stage, firmly connecting the quest of a young protagonist to those of classical heroes and heroines of ancient Greek storytelling--and reminding readers that danger, daring, and romance are still the most thrilling of literary devices.

May follow the Alexander template, but as I've mentioned in other reviews of his books, this is unexpectedly on a reason TO read him. The Arkadians is a beautiful novel which again shows off Alexander's way with words, characters and pearls of wisdom. Never a clam, always an oyster.

This is a great adventure and an interesting spin on Greek mythology. All of the characters are human and they all have ways to grow, which I like.
I really like this book, but I remember liking it a little more when I was younger. Joy-In-the-Dance bugged me just a little this time around, but I still like her and I still think this is a good book. Consider it recommended.
