We are accustomed to state our distinctive principles in something like this form The Scriptures, the supreme and all - sufficient rule of faith and practice; the church, a spiritual body, con sisting only of the regenerate baptism, the Immersion of a believer on profession, of his faith; the Lord's Supper, the communion of those thus baptized with their Lord and with each other; each church independent as to its internal af fairs, but all the churches mutually interdependentand united in all good works the absolute right of every man to wor ship God according to the dictates of his own conscience, without molestation, so long as he does not interfere with the peace'and' good order of society. These things are dis tinctive Baptist pr1nc1ples, however, onlybecause we believe them to be distinctive'new Testament teachings.
