The rapid development of the personal computer has meant that it will not be too long before access to a computer will be as readily available as the slide rule or electronic calculator was a few years ago. As a result the engineering mathematician will in future be spending more time on developing realistic mathematical models for a physical problem and less time on computational details. In the light of these changes, this book has been thoroughly revised and updated. There is a new chapter on discrete mathematics, including propositional logic, predicates and Boolean algebra - these topics are now included in the revised syllabus for Mathematics of the Part 1 Engineering Council examinations. Computer listings of illustrative programs which aid understanding. The previous edition of this book was published in 1973.
