Years ago a librarian friend suggested this title to me. I was "suspicious" of its cover - I was sure that I wouldn't like a western. She was right - it was more similar to the historical fiction that I enjoy. Although I remember the ending to be a little weak, the majority of the book will draw you in and carry you along. You will find a spot that is always surprising to first time readers. There was some talk of it becoming a movie in the past.
