Fans of war stories and aerial combat
Not quite an airman's version of "All Quiet on the Western Front," "In the Company of Eagles" is a bildungsroman set in the First World War. A French fighter ace -- obsessed with killing Germans -- learns to loathe what he's been doing and to see the futility of the war and the killing. Good plot, good characters, well researched, convincingly written, a nice resolution. All in all, a satisfying read.
