This book was given to me by a friend, and when I finally picked it up to read, I found a treasure! The story is touching and historically valuable. The main character is Johnny, an apprentice who loses the use of his hand in an accident and soon finds himself swept up in the exciting events of Revolutionary Boston. At the end, however, it is not the battles that touch Johnny, but a discovery of his own true identity. This book is a must-read, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Must Read for Youngsters
If you are a parent of young boys (and girls) my wife and I strongly recommend this book for them. It contains wonderful treasure of information about early American history including notable founders and influential patriots. The young lad's part as model behavior, though fictional, in the forming of this country is exemplary and exciting reading.

Loved it
I read this book when I was younger, and loved it then. I re-read it now that I am fresh out of school and still love it. It has given me the tempting idea of joining some of the re-enactment groups in my area as this book really brought to life the past. It is a book about freedom for all..."so that a man can stand" It made me remember more strongly why I am proud to be an American.
