"Wampeters, Foma & Granfalloons" is a very entertaining collection of essays, speeches, and various other non-fiction from one of the greats of 20th century American literature, the recently departed Kurt Vonnegut. Vonnegut' s prose style is so relaxed and natural (in both his fiction and non-fiction) that reading him is like having a relaxed conversation with a friend on a front porch over glasses of iced tea on a summer afternoon. In this volume Vonnegut (as always) is acerbic, cynical, daffy, and ultimately a very caring humane artist who wishes only the best for this weary planet, though he can't help suspecting that we're actually destined for hard times.
