I was reluctant to read this, as I had finished 'Chesapeake' and wasn't that thrilled by it. However, 'Space' is really quite good. Michener goes from a ship sinking in the Pacific, to the Germans at the end of World War II, to NASA. Interesting way to tell the story, however he does it quite well. No wear near as many long winded sections as in some of his other books, shows the progression of rockets, even works in evangelicalism into the story. Yeah, go figure, but he does it well, and actually explains 'Scientific notation' well. Of the five Michener books I've read so far, this is the best!
