'wheat 13 the principal farm crop With over one-half of the cultivated land devoted to its production. About 65 per cent of the land in the area is tillable, but due to the small amount of rainfall and the wide variation in its distribution crop yields are uncertain. Climatic conditions have been favorable for dry land orop production in recent years and grain prices have been high, thus the area is at present in a prosperous state of affairs.
