Dick Francis is a master of the suspense narrative. He has written over 25 books, and each is a beautifully crafted tale that will keep you excited and engaged to the end. Not bad for a jockey who never had any formal literary training! Francis is a former champian jockey, and a p[articular aspect of the racing world is almost always a feature of his books. Actaully, by reading through the series (which will take you awhile - but there's no need to hurry!) a layman can aquire quite a knowlege of the racing world and the love of horses. Dick Francis is always a great read.
