Having grown up on an Indiana farm myself, this book brought back many memories through its vivid descriptions of the life, the people, the natural world and its changes through the seasons and through generations. It gave me a nostalgic longing for the simpler life, but also a picture of the realities that are sometimes hard. The characters with their down to earth wisdom warmed my heart. Her work has been a treasured find for me. I sent copies to all my siblings.
