With a keen sense of the environment, spirituality, and the trauma of war, People of the Whale is a powerful novel for our times.

This is an excellent read. Linda Hogan is one of my favorite authors, as she portrays the conflicts, challenges and ultimate strengths of native people as they, and the natural world, struggle to survive.
This story speaks of war (Vietnam) and the toll it takes, as well as the paddling Nations of the Northwest and the sea life from which they originated.
Linda Hogan's words are masterfully crafted and evocative, and I feel much gratitude for her offerings.
