The diet is strenuous but it does kickstart the metabolism if is has slowed down.
I have been on various diets over the years and this one has its good points. however, if you are wheat, soy and milk intolerant the diet does pose a few problems
The book is well written and I liked it over all.

A must read if your goal is to get healthy.
Haylie Pomroy's book makes sense...and following her eating plan works!! I have more energy, I'm sleeping better, and I fit comfortably into clothes that hadn't fit in years. I lost 14 pounds in 5 weeks--and by eating healthy, whole foods. To be honest, I probably would have lost more, but I didn't follow the plan to the letter every day by planning in advance what I would eat for the week. Her "food is medicine" rang true with me. I love that "DIET means Did I Eat/Enough Today." She tells the whys and how to's and provides sample weekly eating plans and recipes. I've been telling my friends about this book and the eating plan.
