I just bought this for an 11 year old son of friends. I like Duane's series a great deal more than I like the Harry Potter books - they have more moral and religious seriousness, without preaching any particular religion, and they are great great fun.

Some of the later books are better than others (though all are worth reading) but these first three in one volume are all terrific.
