A woman stronger and outspoken for the times is common in historical romances. Finding the man that can take (or wants that in his lady) is also common - that is what makes for the fights and making up and the wit in the stories. This story is interesting with the twist of childhood kidnapping. Additionally, the matchmaker angle is a good one. A woman who couples up the unwilling and unfitting for marriage by their own methods in society finds matches that appear to be exactly what is needed for the two involved. I will read more in the series and also from this author as I liked this book so well. A woman bent on spinsterhood, a man with less than refined manners (or is this true or an act?). They are tossed together when he is forced to wed by his family and she is brought in at his request and as a way to help the matchmaker. She has no idea she is requested (not really) and she does not see she is a mark by all that involve her except by the man. Through the "teaching" she falls for him. He has already fallen for her - many years ago. They mingle, work together and fight the attraction (well she does). He is bent on her for this marriage of conveniece - she finds she wants love. All the while, his story is unfolding with twists that start with his kidnapping. It is a good read and will have you seeking out this author again.
