Seller's Description:
Very Good in Very Good jacket. 8vo. ix, 243pp, index, bibliography, notes, bw ills. Or boards in jacket. Very slight edge wear to jacket, a few small toned spots to edges. Waterton was famous during his lifetime for his eccentricities. He turned his park into a sanctuary for animals and birds. As an explorer he learned to survive in the South American rainforest without a gun. He was an authoritiy on poisons used by South American Indians and a taxidermist of note. Above all he was a conservationist who fought to protect wild nature from the destruction and pollution of Victorian industrialisation.
