Starting my teen years in the early 1970s, I was confused about what it truly means to be a woman as God planned. The women around me were unduly influenced by the failed "Equal Rights Amendment" and other cultural phenomenons of the time. I only saw how to be feminist, rather than embracing being female.
Elisabeth Elliot writes about God's intentions for women. I learned that being a woman - and being feminine - is not about being weak, but being strong and confident. I believe that women have lived for so long listening to cultural messages that we need to be like men that we don't know how to be content as women - how to embrace being female.
The short book was written for Elisabeth's daughter in preparation for marriage. It is about being a wife, but also encompasses how to be a whole woman in any season of life.
Elisabeth writes with such love and joy and peace that it is contagious. This book far exceeded my expectations.
