For somewhat more than a year the research was conducted in Hempstead county; in Howard county it was continued for two and a half months, while the remainder of the time was spent in Garland county. The results of the work herein presented bv Mr Harrington speak for themselves. The field photographs used in illustrat ing the memoir were made by Mr Harring ton, while those representing artifacts are the work of Mr Jesse L. Nusbaum.
