I really liked the fantastical characters in Perdido Street Station and The Scar, so I thought this book by China Mieville would be another great read. I also read King Rat, which wasn't as good (to me) as the first two, but still a good read. But for some reason, I just really had a hard time getting into the characters and the locations described in Iron Council. I was having a hard time following what was going on and why. I stopped before I even got a quarter of the way through the book. Perhaps if I had read a little further, it would have finally hooked me, but I have too many other unread books on my shelf to continue struggling with this one, so I'm moving on. I think China Mieville is a very talented wrtier; this book just wasn't the right one for me.
