True and touching story.
This book tells the true story of how one little girl, year after year, asked her father for a Christmas tree to celebrate like other families do. Every year, her father says no. Then, one year, she wins the tree from her classroom and works hard to drag it home. She is sure that her father will be overjoyed because, of course, it must be the cost that keeps him from buying a tree every year, right?
Wrong! Father is angry and insists she get rid of the tree. Upset and hurt by her father's decision, she gets rid of the tree in the only way that makes sense to her. Can you guess the ending to this wonderful true story? Nothing prepared me for the surprise at the end.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves Christmas or who has grown to dread the rush and indifference that Christmas can sometimes carry with it. I read this book at least once a year and every single time, I cry.
