As early as the days of Mofes, t they had extended their navigation beyond the pillars of Hercules, on the wei'tern coafl of Africa, toward the fouth and as far northward as the ifland of Britain, whence they imported tin and lead, which according to the univerfal tefiimony of the ancients, were not then found in any other country.
