Surprise, surprise, surprise
I am surprised I would like any of this book. Purely romance for the sake of getting two people together in each section. A crafty grandpa waiting for nothing and noone to see his grandbabies married and producing him some great-grandbabies. Comedy abounds in each of the tales. There is a great deal of humor in the book which makes it a nice read. Sure, the old coot has devious plans and that is the twist in each section. BUT, how it all comes to the fore for each gal is funny. The small side scenes are cute and the scenes when grandpa is caught are prime. He does a good job ensuring his ways are met and how each person on the string works toward his ultimate goals is surprisingly neat considering the trouble he must go to in order to get what he wants. Small bits of uncertainty cause moments of angst - but nothing dire and it makes you want to read the rest of all the MacGregor series - right from the first (Daniels own story) through to the end (Grooms). Suspense readers will not find so interesting because there is not a lot of suspense involved. Romance lovers will like the innocence of the stories - even with the devious backdrop. Roberts' readers who just love her books will want to read regardless of whether they prefer her harder suspense driven novels.
Great light read - recommended as Robert's has a way with a story that is both amusing and also clearly told as if watching in theater.
