Now, as Dudley and Over ton had consented to this, previously to my arrival at Lexington, it must be admitted by every man of common mnderstanding, that they are not at liberty to refer that curiaent to any promise of mine made at a subsequent period -the testimony of Dr'. Overton is therefore set aside, and all the reasonings of Dr. Dudley founded upon it of necessit fall to the ground.
