Dr. Dolittle, somewhat anticipating Grey Owl & Dr. Konrad Lorentz, both somewhat moe historical, takes the very advanced view that one can communicate with animals if one puts out the effort to learn their own language. Of course, he is right, within broad limits of discourse. In this book, one in a series of v. high quality, he returns from a sojourn in the Moon with moon giant Otho Bludge, & puts matters, animal & human, to rights in his home town of Puddleby-on-the Marsh. The writing is droll & never off pace.
