Extremely well organized and thorough. Easy to use. Considered one of the very best works on the subject. This is the current edition and it is even better than ever.
One tiny reservation is that although this book is usually careful to point out differences between British and American English, those differences do sneak in at times without being highlighted. Authors are Brits. There is a subtle bias. Not a big deal, though.

Great for EFL teachers
I ordered this book as recommended by the CELTA class I took and I found it very helpful in preparing for lessons. It's very thorough and covers English grammar in a great reference manner with an excellent index and specific examples.
I don't think it would be nearly as helpful for teaching native speakers but it's perfect for this, its intended use. I had the opportunity to use other similar books in the school's reference library and this was as good as any of them.
