A mixed bag of short stories. I purchased this book after reading and enjoying The Accidental. While not as enthralling, the stories here reflect Smith's quirkiness and fearlessness; she obviously loves words and relishes playing with them. The stories vary in style, content, and quality. The first, about a man who collects copies of The Great Gatsby (or, rather, about a fly on a book in a bookstore window, and where that fly has been, and where that book has been, and where it's about to end up) is by far the best. But overall, an entertaining read. Smith always surprises.
