Seller's Description:
Fair. This copy may contain significant wear including bending writing tears and or water damage. This book is a functional copy not necessarily a beautiful copy. Copy may have loose or missing pages and may not include access codes or CDs.
This book analyzes short stories structurally. This is the most important aspect of writing, and the one most writers fail at--especially contemporary writers, who either studied commercial fiction and believe Jack Bickham's or Syd Field's theories, or went to MFA programs and spent 6 years studying how to say nothing with style.
Its one failing is that many of the stories are boring, because they deliver a bare theme by itself, rather than (as I believe should usually be done) a theme that's conveyed by a story with a plot.
