Forget the first chapter, it gets interesting and mysterious at "The Toll Gate." One of my favorite Heyer books, full of delightfull dialog.
One of the few books with a child as a main character.

delightful
Sheer fun from start to finish. Georgette Heyer at her usual delightful: a charming romance, fun dialogue, ikeable characters, mystery and a bit of suspense. Wholesome, no sex and no graphic violence. Period well-researched. She's light, but not superficial and not trite. She maintained an amazingly high standard from book to book (the only book of hers that completely disappoints is Penhallow -grim.) This is her usual beguiling fare.
