Perfectly poisonous is another view. Amid all this conspicuous virtue the defection of her husband is an unpleasantly humiliating surprise which forces Patience to review her future. It does not, however, occur to her to review her behaviour at the same time. Moving to London, she decides to reinvent herself as a crusading guardian if the nation's morals, and well on her way to becoming a media personality, she marries the right-wing media mogul Hillary Causton. The Causton newspapers appear to present an ideal platform for her uncompromising opinions, but Patience has reckoned without the ongoing feud between her husband and his arch-rival Charlie Davenport. When mayhem erupts, followed by tragedy, it becomes appparent that the road to hell is indeed paved with good intentions.
